Porlock Weir

After three days of strenuous walking, we decided to have a leisurely day. We drove to the Sonerset village of Porlock and spent a short time looking at some interesting thatched roof buildings .

Our next stop was Porlock Weir, a small port on the Bristol Channel. We had lunch in an art gallery/tea shop and followed this with a walk by the sea.

In the afternoon, we stopped at Malmsmead (see extra ) which is the location for the book Lorna Doone, written 150 years ago by the author RD Blackmore. A very pretty place with an old stone bridge and a Ford which we didn't cross.

We finished the afternoon with a stop on Exmoor to watch the Exmoor Ponies roaming freely. We, walked a distance to find the Foreland Point Lighthouse, but it was a bit too far and we abandoned our quest.

The weather has been great once again and we had a drink on our terrace overlooking the sea and the hills we had climbed yesterday.
