River of Flowers

Bungalow Bay, Magnetic Island

We both woke up early but spent all morning doing our chores: washing some clothes, arranging transport for our next leg of the journey, organising our food store for remainder of time on the island.

It was very quiet here this morning most of the weekend guests had left on Sunday and a few this morning, to be replaced by a steady stream of newcomers all day. The pool outside our cabin was deserted this morning so MrD donned his swimming shorts and spent a happy hour swimming.

Took the bus to Nelly Bay this afternoon to buy more food, it was a bit of a shock getting off the bus to a wall of dry heat, it's a lot cooler over our side of the island! Glad to get back on the bus with the groceries and a long cool drink by the pool.

The highlight of today at the YHA is Bingo tonight! The highlight of yesterday for me was the appearance of a possum on the fence opposite our cabin, it visited 3 times during the evening, hope it's a creature of habit, I'm on the lookout tonight!

YHAs in Australia are really good, accommodation ranges from modern shared dorms to private double accommodation with own bathroom, as we've opted for. The laundry facilities are pretty good too and there's always a well equipped kitchen so you don't have to carry too much equipment around. We've got our own cups, bowls and cutlery. This is in reply to some questions from fellow blippers over the last few days!
