Blackthorn Blossoms
The grass got cut for the first time this year this morning. It makes such a difference, getting rid of all the twigs and leaves that were scattered about and smoothing out the shag-pile effect. TM roped off the area where the snakes head fritillaries are just opening, and by and large they have survived the enthusiasm of Ian the grass-cutting man.
I did some of the chores I put off yesterday, and it was mid-afternoon before we set out for a walk at Monteviot. The sun had disappeared but TM still insisted on ice-cream from Mary's Dairy. It would have been rude just to walk past I suppose. I'm sure we were her only customers this afternoon.
The hedges round there have had a rather brutal trim, but there's still plenty of blossom looking pretty amongst the vicious black thorns, against a cool grey sky.
Off out dancing tonight, not feeling very sprightly.
