Working together.
The logo of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds is the Avocet.
We are lucky that at our local RSPB reserve, Leighton Moss, these charismatic birds have returned for several years. They manage to breed but they have a tough time with predator gulls taking eggs and chicks. And in some years their ground nests have been lost through flooding.
They walk in shallow water moving their curved bills from side to side gathering food from just under the surface of the water.
They are a joy to watch and Mrs.K. and I enjoyed our morning observing them from one of the hides.
