Happy Birthday Uncle Jochen!
On the 3rd Advent Sunday, the 3rd candle was lit on Angie's home made Advent Candle Decoration and 2 days after her birthday it's Uncle Jochen's birthday, also a very special person in my life.
In the Blip, the b&w photo in the foreground is of Jochen & I on a skiiing holiday at the Kanzelwandhaus near Oberstdorf at Easter 1965, the same year Angie was born & she is shown on the big colour photo around 1970; now we know where the horse thing comes! Oberstdorf is close to where we now live but back then there was no plan whatsoever that I would end up in Germany, never mind in the area.
When the photo of Jochen was taken, he was studying, was single & he met the lovely Heidi during the holiday who tried to teach me some skiing during the day & evenings he sat me in the corner with an Almdudler and took over the conversation with her! It was a lovely time, the weather was superb usually being able to ski in a short sleeved shirt!
Finally one more note to the Blip - the two wooden Christmas trees were hand made by Gerhard mentioned on Friday's Blip and the clock was a birthday present for Angie from a long time friend Mona from Fürstenfeldbruck who now lives in Dresden - she & her partner put the photos together from Blip postings. Still trying to work out how they managed it but a lovely thought. Mona is another very special person especially for our now passed away horse Nero & despite being an Arabian, for Asyr. Hopefully she will meet the new ones soon.
Final note, if you look at the linked photo of he Kanzelwandhaus, it has not changed one bit since 1965! I wonder if the access is better however since then. I remember our luggage was transported by a "goods only" lift & we had to take the gondol to the top of the mountain & then ski in very deep fresh snow for several hours (at least it felt like it) down to the hotel and at the end of the holiday ski down to Oberstdorf through thick fog & then walk the last few kilometers as the snow had melted!
