The Hip Hop Chip Shop

I'm ready for a sit down tonight. After the mindfulness talk yesterday, I was at the Captain's Farewell at the husband's golf club last night.  He was up at 3 am as he's off to Portugal for a golf trip so I had organised an extra crochet/knit event at 10 am and then ran across town to meet my book club friends for lunch at the Hip Hop Chip Shop!

It was a lovely morning and quite touching too when I met one new crochet lady.  She asked if she could speak to me privately and told me she has severe dyslexia and can't read all the events on the Meetup app but didn't want to miss out when I posted something new.  She said how she really wanted to become a regular group member as she had so few friends so when I gave her my phone number and told her I would automatically add her to the sessions, she gave me the biggest hug and cried.  It reminds me just how important it is to feel like you belong.

I would normally make sure I am last to leave an event but everyone seemed quite comfortable and were settling in with more coffee and cake so I had to leave them to it - well, the husband is away so I might as well have lunch out too!  The food (and decor) at the Hip Hop Chip Shop was great but the waiter was the funniest, loveliest guy and really made the afternoon.  The seven of us laughed the whole time and when I asked him to take a group photo, we found out later that he loves to take a few selfies first!  He was obviously not the shy, retiring type so when I asked if I could take a photo of him, this was the pose I got!  My friend ordered cheesecake and when he asked if we needed any extra spoons to share it, the death stare and a firm no told him all he needed to know!  You might all be best friends but sharing your lime and ginger cheesecake can be a step too far!
