Anvil
A family treat day today. Our daughter and her partner who live in Lancaster joined us and our son for lunch at Cartmel.
The village is known as the home of sticky toffee pudding (which is delicious). It is also the location of Simon Rogan’s first restaurant L’Enclume (French for anvil), located in a 800 year old former smiddy.
The service and food were excellent with a variety of dishes and flavours, much sourced locally and some foraged. A really lovely stunning meal. The driver (and 2 others] had matching soft drinks to go with the menu which was a novel experience and very flavoursome, from pear with Jerusalem artichoke to fermented tea.
We’d all started of with Granny Smith apple juice infused with pine - another delicious first.
A leisurely dozy afternoon to round off a relaxing Saturday.
