BRUSSELS UNDER THE SUN

Went to the Hôtel de Ville today hoping to pick up my new Belgian Identity Card. The receptionist clerk was charming, but she explained that I would have to wait for a visit from the Police so that they can be reassured that I actually live where I've lived for the last 15 years!

Bring it on! Must say I kind of like the purposeful plodding of Belgian bureocracy! They love their stamps & signatures - it goes slowly, surely & extremely politely!!
