I nearly drowned the car

At 3.30 pm............ it started to rain.   RATHER HARD.

A little voice inside my head said, "Don't go to the gym, it's raining".

Then another voice said, "Don't be a baby.  There is no thunder, no lightening, no hail. Grab the umbrella and go........... YOU NEED THE EXERCISE.  Plus, it's STEP, you LOVE STEP".

The 2 voices argued for the next 20 minutes.

Guess which voice won.

The go to the gym voice.

I went to the gym.  To be honest, the drive there, was wet, but not horrific.

The horror all began, when I got to the gate.

At this moment, visibility was extremely poor.  Cars were trying to come out of the one way gate - going the wrong way.  Thanks to the pile up, I was forced to drive down to the bottom parking lot. Something I NEVER DO !

The road running a cross the bottom  parking lot - was flooded.

I couldn't go back.

I had to drive my "extremely low hanging" baby through it.  OMG !  The fear, the torment......

And of course, I had to contend with the other voice, which cried out, as we spluttered through  the 300 m long "raging river".

"I told you NOT TO GO.  This will wreck the car.  WE ARE A ONE FAMILY car................. how could you be ,SO IRRESPONSIBLE.  You need your head read.  All this, because you wanted to take an exercise class'

The good news, I and the car, made it to the other side.

SHAKING.

Both of us, were shaking !

I parked the car, by the squash court and contemplated what to do.  I was 20 minutes too early for the class.

Refer to the extra to my view from inside the car.

At this moment, a message popped up on the whatsup group. "Guys I am at the gym, but the parking lot is flooded".

No kidding !

I knew Marius was at the gym - so on paper, there might still be a step class, if there were a few other idiots like me. Driving home, at this moment in time, was NOT an option.  Just then I saw Luiza, making a run for the door.

I took off my takkies, grabbed the umbrella and made a run for it, too.

The water came up above my knees.  My gympants were soaked, so was my hair.

But, I made it inside.  And.................. there was step class.  It was A GREAT CLASS, for the 8 people who ultimately arrived.

The blip is from the window that overlooks the door of the gym.  Notice how deep the water is.

Leaving, an hour later, was not quite as melodramatic, as arriving.

By this time............
it had stopped raining, the sun was shining
the staff had managed to unblock the drain, so the water level was much lower
and they had opened a side door

I exited via the side door.  Got into the car, said a little prayer, that the car would start.  It did.  And drove home.

Once I was safely back inside, that pesky little voice that caused ALL THE TROUBLE, piped up.

"It was a great workout.................. aren't you glad, you went"

NO !   I AM NOT.  I should have been a scaredy cat.  That is who I AM !
