The dash for gas.
As described by a few newspapers.
There has been work down here for many years testing the viability of coal seam gas extraction; I've shot quite a bit of it over the years in the flat land series. The company have now put in planning permission which has gotten the local population (i.e. my neighbours) in a bit of a spin. I've had a look at the planning permission application myself and I have a couple of queries (which it seems Network Rail are asking the right questions) but the amount of shit information and conjecture out there is incredible. I do find it amusing the sweat people are getting into over "methane pipelines" whilst forgetting or not realising they have one in their garden and haven't been killed yet. A good look at the papers and web (especially Facebook) shows you the real problem people have here; the price of their house. Wanting a very large centrally heated house (hands up, that's me....) is one thing, but God forbid that we have to live anywhere near where the gas that goes into to heating that house is produced.
