Sky Flowers

The Virgen de Soledad is the patron saint of Oaxaca, and her day is Dec. 18. The heart of the celebration will take place at the Basilica, which is very close to where I live. Last night brass bands blared, fireworks boomed, and about every 10 minutes the sky was lit up with a whistling burst of color. We were able to enjoy all of this from the comfort of our porch, wine in hand!
