Resident Mallards

Despite the fact that we do not currently have a pond, these three Mallards seem to have taken up semi-permanent residence in our garden. They are here everyday for a while before going back into the marsh for the night. The female seems to have chosen the one she wants to mate with, but the other one has not yet given up.
 
We went to Scotsdales Garden Centre this morning for some weed killer. I also bought a new Hebe for one of the front tubs as one had almost died. I have planted it in one of the borders, but whether it will survive or not remains to be seen. We had coffee and cake in their newly refurbished café before coming home. The whole shop has also been reorganised and now contains many more gift and upmarket items, with prices to match.

This afternoon, after planting the new shrub, I have been catching up with some reading. The temperature at noon was eleven degrees Celsius.
