Love Birds

Our garden regular pied Jackdaw seems to have found a mate. I did a bit of reading up on Jackdaws. They are the smallest of the corvids and pair for life, life being typically 5 years but the maximum recorded age is nearly 16. Like all corvids, they are very intelligent and if tame, can be trained. One individual was trained by a group of Italian thieves to swoop in and snatch cash from ATM users. They are devoted parents and take extremely good care of their young. It isn't easy to distinguish between the sexes, but the male tends to be a bit smaller which makes our pied friend the male.
