Wondering

My elf is wondering, like the rest of us, what this world is coming to.

I'm wondering how we can possibly do enough to protect our kids from the evil that seems to be out of control. We can't live in fear, prevent all danger, or shelter them from life...but we have to do more within our communities, strengthen standards & prove that goodness is stronger than evil.

For Ella, though, her world is much smaller & simpler. She's only wondering why she had to have a stinky bath tonight, why we didn't appreciate her muddy paws, dirty nose, & leaf-matted belly fur after her romp outside. After the bath, she slid her face wildly side-to-side on the carpet until the sides of her eyes & both top lips had bleeding rug burns. Here, she's wondering why we think it necessary to put the silly red hat on her head. Oh, to have the worries & simple life of a dog.
