The work was done
This was quite an auspicious Monday.
The workmen arrived to remove the fitted wardrobe and strip one wall of plaster in Mum's bedroom. Here you see them towards the end of the job.
Upstairs, two kitchen units were removed and the laminate floor was lifted.
I took Mum to the RVI to see the neurologist and Liz was at our house to oversee the action and make cups of tea!
The neurologist was running 45 mins late, so we missed all the noise and most of the dust.
He spent nearly an hour with Mum and did a very careful examination. Despite the raised antibodies, he does not think that she has myasthenia gravis. He has nothing to offer for her symptoms. This was the most disappointing thing. We had really hoped there might be some relief for Mum.
We were both pretty shattered, but we have watched our favourite quizzes and enjoyed them. Then we saw the last 45 minutes of Our School by the Tower, Episode 2. (We did not see episode 1.) This was an uplifting piece of documentary about how music can enthuse and inspire young people. Well done Gareth, but very well done to the young people themselves. The drama about the Grenfell Tower fire had everyone in tears - brilliant.
We have a cold house but one or two very warm rooms to keep us cosy. The next step is for the renovation company to return to oversee the drying out process. Watch this space.
