Christchurch, we weep with you.
The Geelong mosque opened their hearts and doors today, permitting an overflowing wave of emotion from citizens in Geelong who wanted to show the Muslin community that they were not alone. That the shooting on NZ touched us all and we wouldn't ignore the worldwide sense of grief.
It must have been exhausting for those folk, 6 hours or more of playing host to well- wishers who arrived tentatively and curiously to understand more about these neighbours when the opportunity presented itself.
This community has had their own share of challenges, the mosque is housed in an old church and was subject to a misplaced firebomb when it was torched along with several Christian churches by a fire bug.
They have rebuilt a beautifully simple and bright mosque.
