Oystercatcher

I was watching a pair of Oystercatchers when I noticed that this one has been ringed. It is quite amazing the number of birds I see that have rings on them. Is it because ringing happens here and also the close proximity to Fair Isle and Orkney I wonder.  the most unusual was back in 2012  when I spotted an Arctic Skua that I later discovered had been ringed (if that's the right word) on Mousa 5 years earlier
