Solitaire

We knew we'd have to stop in Solitaire for fuel as it's the only place on the long drive from Sossusvlei to the coast at Walvis Bay. But no-one told us it was going to be so much fun - like something from Route 66 in the middle of the desert. The bakery there sold excellent bread, cakes and coffee; you could get your punctures fixed by a jovial mechanic - what else do you need?
In truth we only saw about 6 houses in 7 hours of driving - but we did see hundreds of oryx, mountain zebra, ostriches and even a jackal from the road
