Nature Diary... Red-headed Irishman

Red-headed Irishman - Mammillaria spinosissima
A chilly grey day best spent indoors and a chance to share with you my lovely red-headed Irishman friend :-)
This cactus with its beautiful but somewhat fierce red spikes is one of my favourites. I’ve had it since it was tiny and now it’s about 6 inches tall. It is no trouble whatsoever, seems to thrive on neglect, and produces delicate little pink flowers when it feels like it.
I love its popular name, so much more friendly that its official catalogue name.
As the day continued to remain grey and gloomy the Red-headed Irishman and I had a little playtime with some photo editing apps. The main photo shows my cactus on the left with an edit on the right. In the extras my cactus is top left and the rest are edits of that photo.
Just a bit of fun while I seriously wonder if we do all see life in the same way. Anyway, I have no problem thinking we probably don’t and I don’t think my Irishman friend is too bothered either!

Thank you to everyone who has visited my journal while my comments were off and many thanks also for all the stars and hearts, very much appreciated!
