The morning was misty with drizzle.

The day was quiet and gentle at this hour, but for the people of Christchurch their day was within hours of being shattered in what the Prime Minister has labeled ‘One of NZ’s Darkest Days’

At 1.40pm there was a major shooting in Christchurch, NZ
The first shooting was at the Mosque on Deans Ave followed ten minutes later by another shooting at the Mosque in Linwood.
There have been multiple deaths and injuries - the numbers as yet to be confirmed.
A number of car bombs were found and disarmed by the bomb disposable unit.
Four people, one a woman, have been arrested. 

On a Friday, a larger number of people congregate at Mosques for prayer. 


UPDATE 1 - (7pm NZ time) Our Prime Minister has just announced that 40 people have died in the shooting. A further 20 of the 48 people injured have serious injuries.
UPDATE 2 - (9pm NZ time) Death total now 49.
