Dippers

Before leaving the Lakes I had to take some photos of the 2 dippers that have been entertaining us on the far bank of the beck that we look out onto. The beck has been raging and noisy but this pair have still managed to communicate with each other. One collecting nesting material whilst the other watches out.
They are building a nest in a natural stone crevice at the side of a small waterfall feeding into the Great Langdale Beck. The nest is domed and made of moss and leaves. It will be lined with stems, rootlets and hair. Both the male and female take part in building the nest and it usually takes about one month to complete.
