Another day on Queen Charlotte track and plenty more birdlife. This chap came around while we were having lunch. He is a bit smaller than a pheasant flightless and almost completely feerless. He stalked around us and after a while decided to try and make off with Mrs H's Fleece... which was too heavy for him to carry anyway. When you see how the native bird life behaves you understand the zeal with which the authorities are trying to remove/control the introduced mammals that can prey on them.
