Sir Ed

This one's for Hilary (HilarysView). One of only two statues of Sir Edmund Hillary in New Zealand. It stands in Hillary Square in our little township. Unveiled in 1991 it is the work of artist Chen Wei-Ming. As mentioned yesterday there is a strong connection between the Hillary family and Orewa. Thought this would fit the theme for Mono Monday as the first ascent of Everest was done with some deliberation. Thanks to ApolloFly for hosting.
