Blown away

Last December I blipped the Walkers' Annual Christmas Walk and Lunch . And - it being one year on - here are the participants of the next one.

The weather was -- er-- challenging. Sufficiently so for three faint-hearts to decide to miss the walk and come for the lunch alone. But for those 8 of of us who did make the 5 mile circuit round Southwold it was jolly good fun. (And this is despite three of us being struck down with vile lurgies and one of us having arrived 2 days earlier from a country where the December temperature is 28C.)

Shoreside, the waves were whipped towards us in great globs of foam; inland, the wind could nearly knock you over. But it was all very bracing and the promised driving rain only turned up when we were in sight of LUNCH (hurra hurra).

Halfway round we stopped for a tot of sloe gin which is probably why everyone is looking so very jolly. Last year's gin was in memory of Penny because she and I had picked them together. But I was sentimental enough to put of the handful of used sloes into the next years' brew and so we were able to toast her all over again.

Didn't make any sloe gin this year - there were so few sloes - and I have only three or four pints left from the year before. Unless I husband my resources and am uncommonly prudent, we will be drinking hot coffee next year
