Under Wraps
A Chinese Pavilion is being built in The Firs, Marie Corelli's gardens bequest to the people of Stratford. The building is a gift from the Chinese and they have sent people over to help build it.
As usual with anything new in Stratford, such as the observation wheel, there is a lot of grumbling and complaints from the residents. I'm sure there wasn't such a fuss about the pagoda built in Kew Gardens in 1762. And at 50 metres is seven times higher than our pavilion.
Personally I think it will be a nice addition to the gardens, Correlli always liked the quirky, using her personnel pagoda to travel up and down the Avon, I'm sure she would approve.
No doubt there will be a blip of the finished article when complete and officially unveiled.
