Teacher presents - tick

I've managed to ice these little cakes in jars today and ribbon them up ready for next week.

The chocolatier I used to work for had a total fit at me one Christmas when I worked there and I mentioned I might like to buy some of our chocolate for teacher gifts. She declared in no uncertain terms that her chocolate was too good for teachers and that they certainly didn't deserve Xmas gifts just for doing their job. She did have quite a lot to say about teachers in general, none of it complementary and certainly not for this blip. I did feel sorry for the teachers of her young children.

I didn't bring it up in conversation again, but here's why our teachers deserve a gift, especially now, when our children are so young and spend their school hours with a handful of adults.

They shape the hearts, minds and souls of our little people and we entrust them to do it.
They spend more waking hours with my babies during the week than I do.
We show our children that giving gifts to people at this time of year, no matter how small, is a wonderful way to show people that we appreciate them.

I also know from the other side of it that teachers are overun with chocolate, smellies, mugs, cake etc at this time of year and that perhaps they're not always exactly what they want or need.

I'll still always try to make or buy something small for my children's teachers at Christmas though because I want them to know that we appreciate them and what they do when they educate and care for my children.
