Vitamin C

More forage. This time, on the left, is Hairy Bittercress although this early in the year it's neither hairy nor bitter but mildly peppery and fresh-tasting. On the right are dandelion leaves which usually are quite bitter which is why I have blanched them by covering the plant with a clump of hay and an old washing-up bowl for a couple of weeks. The new shoots, deprived of light, are pale and tender.
Both these plants are classed as weeds and would more than likely by eradicated if they dared to raise their heads in a formal garden path or designated flowerbed. Peasants and survivalists would know better.
