Gandy Street

A visit to Exeter to get the camera sensors cleaned.  Its been a pretty wet day, more like April showers this week.  I popped along Gandy Street looking for a birthday present and stopped to take this shot.  Its a lovely little street that dates from Saxon times, the line of the street following the path that the Roman soldiers followed when patrolling the boundary of their fortress Isca.  It was originally named Correstrete in 1265 and renamed Gandy Street after Henry Gandy Mayor of Exeter in the 1660s.

It was then a quick trip home for the geology group meeting in the afternoon on Pterosaurs.  Think I will give the local film club a miss as its Photoclub later this evening.  Funny how some days seem to have too many things happening.
