Here is another my collection of Doll's Houses. This one is a 1:48th (1/4ins to 1 foot) scale model of a Wealden hall house commonly found in the Weald of Kent. They were built by wealthy Yeoman Farmers from the late 1300's to the mid 1500's, and many examples of these timber framed buildings still remain in use today.

This model comes from the latter period as it has a central large fire place and chimney, rather than the fire pit with a hole in a roof of earlier buildings. The wealthy owner has also splashed out on a four poster bed, lavishly decorated with brocade for himself and his wife, with a fine cradle for their new baby - another day I might peak through the lighted window to check on them.

This model was "scratch built" by me from plans - only the little cow which has found its way into one of the rooms and the pea bulbs lighting it are ready made.
