Trumpet Blast

The big blow accompanying storm Freya this weekend has blasted a few plants, all the blossom on our Witch Hazel lies in a carpet of yellow beneath the branches.  These Narcissus hispanicus, long established in a raised bed in the garden were seemingly unperturbed.  Raised from seed perhaps twenty years back, it is smaller and more delicate in appearance than the garden daffs.  I like the narrow, slightly twisted ray florets and the very crinkly edge on the corona.  I also liked the  early morning sunlight ... a pyjamas and crocs blip :-)

A morning trip to the garden centre for a new rake was swiftly followed by a session on the allotment.  Onion sets planted.  The afternoon was spent covering a break for my mother in law's live in carer, a break my father in law used to cover.  In hospital his family are gathered, heartbreaking that Una cannot be there.
