Kindling

A day for no great moving on: we just meandered our way at a sedate pace down the coast. And the monster truck has some sort of clever radar in its cruise control to keep you a set distance from slower cars ahead. Not that there were many cars at all, which was a bit annoying as I so wanted to keep trying it.
We toodled via a beach or two before stopping for lunch at Moruya for more of that Bundaberg Ginger Pop with a ploughman’s lunch. On to a B&B at Norooma - Anchor’s Aweigh. One of those places where the owners have indulged themselves to the max, combining their ideal dream home with a museum of everything - cabinets of toy metal cars, antique biscuit boxes, military prints by the hundred, and even a toy train track suspended from the ceiling. Needless to say they don’t let you carry your own bags in, in case you scuff their exhibits. Weirdos.
Out again to walk down the riverside boardwalk to the town beach under cloudless skies. And there’s even a netted off swimming area, though as it’s in a lagoon type area we felt safe enough to swim outside it. There were a few other people there doing the same thing, y’see. A happy few hours reading and swimming, till it was time to find an eatery, and it being a small town, and a Sunday, we found ourselves eating at the Golf Club. A strange cross between a posh restaurant (chefs and open kitchen), a casino and a canteen. Still, oysters once again, and rather good they were. I can also report their local plonk is quite decent. And a bit moreish.
