Giving thanks
I was at Michael Green's funeral today. I knew him a little through work and was constantly impressed at his passion for the Lord and at how encouraging he was. As someone who has worked for a number of charities, believe me when I say not many people write to thank you for sending them a thank you letter for a gift. His wee notes about the stories in the letters I had sent, his own stories and the appreciation for the work that people do behind the scenes in ministry was fantastic and very touching. We also had a number of long conversations about ministry in Eastern Europe, a passion we shared. Today, in spite of the pain and grief felt by those who loved him, was such an inspiring and encouraging day, with stories told from the front and in simple conversations attesting to a man who has finished his race as he was called to run it, and now is with the Saviour he loved so much. A privilege to have known him even a little.
