Tony Meeuwissen's Cards of Transformation

As soon as Helena got home from her job, we set off by car for Cirencester, or Corinium, as the Romans named it, and the centre of what is now called the Cotswolds. We wanted to see an exhibition of artwork by the renowned local illustrator, Tony Meeuwissen, and Helena knew he would be present at the gallery today, located at Corinium Museum.

Helena knows Tony and I knew of him as we have a mutual friend in common in Stroud. It was very interesting to meet him, with his work surrounding us on the walls. He didn't mind our taking pictures for Blip, so I took several pictures but I remember this most fondly. It appeared to be a first draft of an idea which after three years eventually became Cards of Transformation; a set of cards with the normal denominations for playing with, but with rather different individual images.

Tony doesn't have a website, but there is a review of an older exhibition here which shows some of his very varied work.
