The Living and the Dead
The Daffodils have still not opened, but it cannot be too long.
Our garden and the surroundings has been covered by a Tree Preservation Order for about twenty years ago.
This tree stump was created about forty years before the order came into force, so the tree was cut down sixty years ago. It was replaced by a Beech Tree which is growing nicely.
Alongside the replacement we planted a Copper Beech which is growing even better.
These snowdrops are some of the later flowering ones and the bright green shoots are a variety of wild garlic which spreads like wildfire and then disappears. It is everywhere around us, even the road verges.
The interesting thing is that all of our trees are fine, whereas the majority of the trees along the roadsides have been cut down. Some have been replaced but most have not.
