A good training session at the gym, an easy day examining.
I then went with a friend/colleague to pay condolences. The wife of one of my colleagues had lost her mother to cancer, and she’s without family here. They’re Syrians residing in KSA but she was having treatment in Turkey. Under Islam she was buried there, the same day. The men gather on the first day to pay condones and the women gather over three days. All of this is done separately. We visited, and joined other women, I was the only foreigner. They were dressed in black, with white hijabs. Mourning attire. The other women left, the husband came home and we chatted and played with the kids. A sad occasion but good to support a colleague whose family I consider as friends.
N and I then had a bite to eat and later I met a friend for a walk and a coffee. On the way home I spotted this car bonnet and I’d been wanting a photo of something like this. Cars are being decorated and some are carrying huge flags, all in preparation for National Day. Given how late / early it was, no one spotted me taking the photo.
Grateful for friends, both new and old.
