Nearly time for Carnaval

The city of Funchal is gearing up for a bright and colourful celebration. The stalls are opening, the street entertainers are appearing, and excitement is building.

I stumbled over a tour of City Hall, which was fascinating, and included going up those flights of stairs to the top of the tower. Fabulous views, including some dark and threatening clouds high over Monte. Fortunately they stayed there.
