For the Wide Wednesday challenge ‘in the air/sky’


I had taken a photo after our swim of clouds in a summery blue sky, but looking toward the hills I loved these layers and the hills reaching into the sky. I had used my zoom lens for this photo and I’ve cropped it to create a wide angle for the challenge.

NB - to see the glow and detail of the late afternoon sunlight it is best seen in large.

Pigeon Valley Fire, Tasman/Nelson
- This morning the State of Emergency was lifted for the Pigeon Valley fire. A notice of transition to recovery has been issued.
- The fire risk across the entire Nelson Region is still extreme and rain is not expected before the middle of March

Upper Moutere Fire, Tasman/Nelson
- This afternoon a new fire broke out on the Moutere Hill - between Redwoods Valley and Upper Moutere.
- The majority of the 97 properties evacuated this afternoon following the fire in Upper Moutere have been able to return home on condition they can evacuate at a moments notice. Five properties remain evacuated
- The fire is contained, but not controlled
- Fire crews will continue working through the night on both fires - the Pigeon Valley hot spots & the Moutere Hill.
