People on a Bridge

For a long while, I was quite out of my element in Starkville. I am a Big City Girl, and living in the middle of nowhere threw me off. We are still surrounded by fields of cotton, catfish ponds, and very short buildings, but I made it work for us. I figured out how to get my hands on quality local food, we met a bunch of really neat people. We also have made a piece of public land ours, the Oktibbeha County Heritage Museum building and grounds. Husband Dear's project with students (in its third year) had provided ample opportunities for photography, various celebrations, plant identification lessons, Little Man's Construction 101 lessons, and so much more. This project, more than anything else, made Starkville home for me.

Here is Little Man , enjoying the last of wild sunflowers at the edge of the outdoor bench in front of the Museum.
