Nearly a bike ride!

Too nice to stay in so we decided to go for a bike ride.
It didn't go well.
Only yards from our house, cycling down the pavement to stay off the busy road, we suffered a bit of a tumble when Jeff pulled onto the grass and quickly dismounted his bike but doing that he managed to knock me over sideways where I landed in the bramble bushes! I was pinned down and Jeff was bruised. A kind young woman helped to get me out of the bush. Fortunately no real damage done.
Off we went to cycle our favourite off road route through Bunn Leisure holiday park where we encountered a very grumpy gate keeper who was miffed that he had to press a button to raise the barrier to let us through. He only had one job! On we went through Medmerry only to find they were working on the footpaths and had closed off all of our routes. We turned back.
Our only option now was to go on the road for a while and then through the footpath around the edge of the farmers field. It was incredibly muddy and to top it all came face to face with the farmer in his tractor trimming the hedge blocking this path too! He gestured for us to go around into freshly ploughed field. My bike and myself sank about a foot into the muddy soil.
We made through eventually and ended at Pagham Harbour RSPB place which is actually about 2 miles from our house so we never got very far at all.
The bikes badly needed cleaning after all that.
Ah well, at least we got out.
