Blackbird
In the last two weeks blackbirds have joined the morning chorus of robins and song thrushes, with their mellow, flutey song that somehow suits these still, clear mornings which we continue to have.
It was warmer again today, record February temperatures were recorded elsewhere in the country. Following yesterday's experience with Gus, we took it easy going up the Knott. The pink-flushed clouds of the pre-dawn were gone by the time we reached the top, and the sun was climbing in the sky above Eaves Wood. We stopped to watch the mist rolling up valley to envelop Arnside Tower and the farm.
It was still filling the lower ground when we came down, and this blackbird was perched on the field hedge with the misty layered woodlands beyond him.
Gus was fine with the gentler pace, he's had a good day today and now it's time for his evening walk in the woods.
Results of last week's blood letting back today, all seems ok, so I'm good for another three months till the next one.
