Warm and hazy, we've been working hard in the garden and it's looking good! Beds dug, wildflower seeds scattered, and brambles and gorse momentarily tamed - well some of them. Useful things have been done within the house too. It's amazing how the arrival of a house sitter spurs you into action.
And sadly we fear Jerome has gone. There's no way he could have survived this long outside in the state he was in. He was a stray, around for about two years. It took him one year to get into the conservatory, another 6 months to aim for the kitchen and he had only just discovered there were sofas in the sitting room. An unassuming and low maintenance chap, not one to get over- excited, his departure was as undramatic as the boy himself. He slipped away as quietly as he came. We feel rather glum without him.
