Stormtrooper In Drag

At No. 30 in my Sony Walkman countdown is Terre Thaemlitz with eleven songs, all of them from his splendid Replicas Rubato, an album of piano interpretations of Gary Numan songs. 

The sleeve notes to Replicas Rubato, which you can read here, are, well ..... interesting. They offer a gay analysis of Numan's lyrics that, to be honest, I find pretentious and strained. Cars is about gay men cruising for B.J.'s? I really don't think so. Analysis aside, though, the music is brilliant; no one has covered Numan better, in my opinion.
