Red-a-Ven Brook

Quite an interesting day, I was up early and could see a red sky so headed down to the beach for a sunrise shot, but it was rather misty as I got there and no sun materialised.  After breakfast I headed to Woodbury Common and took some photos of the mist as it was moving rapidly up the River Exe valley, see extra.  Well I thought I should have todays blip in the bag but when I got home we decided to go on a walk I had thought of doing before starting from Okehampton railway station.  By now the sun was out and it was pretty warm.  The route lead us up onto Dartmoor with views of Yes Tor and High Willhays before descending down alongside a brook, the Red-a-Ven brook where today's blip was taken.  We passed under the Meldon Viaduct and came back via the West Devon Way with glimpses of the Castle.  A great walk with lots of interest including the remains of a copper mine, an old quarry and lime kiln and of course walking on the moor.  Several bees were seen amongst the rich smelling gorse and two types of butterfly a red admiral and a fritillary.
