Can’t you just image the sense of speed, balmy wind blowing through the hair and the feeling of freedom!

We woke to the magical sound of rain this morning. After weeks and weeks of sunshine and dryness it was a very welcome sound - even if it was short-lived and the sun soon returned.


Many thanks for the comments and stars for yesterday’s heritage bedroom in mono. Many thanks to those who took the time to look at the photo in large to see the subtle detail and the improved lighting.




Pigeon Valley Fire, Tasman/Nelson
- This evening, the remaining controlled access cordons in Teapot Valley, Eves Valley and Redwood Valley have been lifted.
- Only 5mm of rain fell in the area of the Pigeon Valley fire. The fire risk across the region continues to be extreme.
- The fire is now contained and controlled with a 30m boundary black-out (fire break) around the entire perimeter. Work continues to extend this to a width of 50m.
- Section 91, machinery ban directive is still in place, as is the State of Emergency.
