Lake Rotoma......

......a dismal day to be on the road but all good things must come to an end.

Sadly we said our goodbyes to my aunt and drove through to Rotorua passing Lake Rotoma along the way. With time on our side we were able to stop to get a shot, relive some memories of family picnics by the lake but today it was raining so we didn't linger.

Checking in for our flight we had some lunch, watched a plane fly in and then the news we didn't really want to hear, 'Your flight has been cancelled, there are no more flights out of Rotorua today, due to the weather'. We gathered our bags and had to bus to Auckland which didn't end up being too bad, at least we were high up and could see the passing landscape. Air NZ had made all the relevant changes so connecting onto our flight from Auckland to Christchurch went smoothly, although it was a late trip home and ended up being a very long day.

Monday....dismal day for travelling, wet and tiring.

This is the last backblip for our North Island winter holiday last year. We had a wonderful time, mum catching up with her cousins she hasn't seen for 30 years or more, me meeting family I hadn't met before, celebrating my aunt's 80th and just enjoying being back in our home town....many fond memories :)
