I Robot

I am taking some photographs at work to illustrate what a Pharmacy department gets up to. So where better to start than the dispensary. We were one of the first sites in the UK to install a 'robot' - more accurately termed automated dispensing - which is what you can see here in the foreground.

Using bar-code technology, a robotic arm whizzes along to pick up the required item with a giant claw, deposits it in a conveyer and it is then dropped down a chute to the dispensing station. Gone are the days of counting triangles. Makes me almost nostalgic.
