Spinning Gold Into Straw

Or maybe it's the other way around.  Our knitters group made the annual pilgrimage to the Stitches Yarn Expo--seemingly acres of all things fiber, but just enough to cover in a few concentrated hours. Yarn and yarn and yarn, needles of all kinds, books, buttons, gadgets, yarn. All that was missing was a sheep. 

I don't have much of an idea of what's going on in this photo; what I enjoyed is the juxtaposition of all her ink with the fine threads she's holding, the knitted shoes (yes, really), and the industrial arrangement of wheels and wood. What's also interesting is the number of younger women at this event, mostly as enthusiastic entrepreneurs, but also customers. I didn't get any yarn, but I did find a pair of dynamite earrings.
