The North Coast

My absolute favourite views of Madeira are on the North Coast. You arrive through the tunnel, through Sao Vicente and there it is, in front of you.

The light is always special, always different. The waves change, the colours vary, but they are infinitely stunning.

Our next stop was Porto Moniz, withthe famous lava pools (extra). Today the waves were breaking high over the rocks and it was seriously beautiful.

A tasty lunch in the mountains, a friendly stop in a local cafe and then on to see the modern Madeira wine factory high above Camara do Lobos.

All that and amazing weather.
