Aston Hotel

This is the Aston Hotel in Dumfries. It was bought and extended by Aston Hotels. The beautiful old sandstone building which has stood in the grounds of The Crichton (see yesterday's blip) was added to and a Hotel created to cater for conferences, wedding guests, the odd visiting football team, etc. It was reckoned that Dumfries lacked such a facility.

But why-oh-why give planning permission to build a steel and glass structure extension onto the beautiful old building???!!!
