Huntress of Skipton
We had visitors on the boat today - Sandy and Mandy from near where we lived in Dumfries. They got married only last week and we couldn't make their wedding so they came down here for a short honeymoon or minimoon as they called it.
After taking them for a trip along the canal to Skipton we moored up and went for a walk in Skipton Castle Woods. They are at least 1,000 years old. You can read about them in this Woodland Trust info: https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/visiting-woods/wood-information/skipton-castle-woods/history-of-skipton-castle-woods/
The beautiful willow sculpt 'Huntress of Skipton'' was created by local willow artist Anna Cross (of Anna and the Willow). She also made a beautiful horse which is situated in the woods.
Skipton is a popular tourist market town and well worth a visit.
